Setup

Quick start

  1. Open the downloaded DMG and drag SpeakSync Helper to Applications
  2. Launch SpeakSync Helper from Applications — it appears in your menu bar
  3. When prompted, grant Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions
  4. Open Word, click Present — SpeakSync Helper connects automatically
  1. Run the installer and follow the prompts
  2. SpeakSync Helper appears in your system tray
  3. When prompted, grant Microphone access
  4. Open Word, click Present — SpeakSync Helper connects automatically

Private by design

SpeakSync Helper uses your operating system's built-in speech recognition engine. All processing happens locally on your device. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

Troubleshooting

Helper not detected

Make sure SpeakSync Helper is running (check your menu bar on Mac or system tray on Windows). If you just installed it, try restarting Word.

Microphone not working

Check that you've granted microphone permission. On macOS: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. On Windows: Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
